* 469 PLAYERS TO BE SELECTED FROM 20 SCHOOLS IN 39 DISCIPLINES

CHANDIGARH, 28 MAY: The Education Department, Punjab, today announced the sports wings to be made operational during the current academic year 2015-16 to provide coaching to students having inclination towards sports.
The trials for selecting budding players for these wings would commence from 1st June which would continued on 2,4,5 and 6 June. As promised by Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema, Education Minister, Punjab, at the time of honouring junior world boxing champion Mandeep Kaur Sandhu, village Chakar has been allotted 2 wings in boxing.
Stating this, a spokesperson of the education department today said that 20 schools of the state have been allotted various sports wings in 39 disciplines. The students being selected for these wings would be provided free accommodation and education (including computer fees) and sports material, 2 sports kits, 1 track suit, shoes and diet of Rs. 125 per day. Expert coaches would coach the students.
