Khiala (Jalandhar), May 24- Taking a quip on the plan of state congress Chief Mr. Partap Singh Bajwa to launch a yatra in the state, the Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal today said that Mr. Bajwa should rechristen this yatra as ‘Paschaatap Yatra’ and seek apology from people for sins committed by his party against the state and its people.

Interacting with the media persons on the sidelines of inauguration of first academic session at Sant Baba Bhag Singh university here today, the Chief Minister said that was ironic that Mr. Bajwa had announced to launch a yatra against the state government, duly elected by the people, whereas he had forgotten that Punjabis had been the victim of the stepmother treatment of the successive congress governments. He said that Mr. Bajwa must remember that Punjab had suffered a lot due to the apathy of Congress party and the people of state would never forgive it. “So instead of squabbling for power by starting a Yatra Mr. Bajwa must use this yatra to apologize for sins committed by his party”, he added.

Replying to another query, the Chief Minister said that it was not possible for the state government to divert the funds sent by the Government of India for procurement of grains. He said that Punjab’s track record in procurement of crops was an open book as the state government had always adopted a transparent system for it.

The Chief Minister further said that the state government was minutely looking into the case related to reinstating of former cop Gurmeet Singh Pinki. Mr Badal said that he was not aware about the case as the permission regarding it might have been given at lower level. However, he reiterated that law will take its own course in the matter.

Congratulating new Junior World Boxing Champion Mandeep Kaur Sandhu for spectacular performance in field of boxing, the Chief Minister said that the state government would extend all possible help to the girl and her family besides duly felicitating her. Mr. Badal said that he would soon contact the girl to offer full help to her.

Later in his address, the Chief Minister listed the achievements of state government in sector of Health and Education. He said that meritorious schools started by state government were proving a boon for poor but bright students by offering them quality education. Likewise, he said that the state government was giving a push to skill training by opening skill centers across the state in a big way.

Lauding the role of Sant Baba Malkiat Singh ji in imparting quality education to the students of the area, the Chief Minister said that Sant Baba Bhag Singh Memorial Charitable society was doing the real service of society.Acceding to the request of the management, the Chief Minister also announced to send a team of experts for setting up an integrated sports Hub at the University campus.

In his address Chief Parliamentary Secretary Mr Pawan Kumar Teenu lauded the vision of Chief Minister for initiating a number of pro-poor schemes. He also sought the intervention of Chief Minister for resolution of several issues related to Adampur assembly segment.

Earlier the Chief Minister laid the foundation of Skill Development Centre and Sant Baba Bhag Singh Charitable hospital and inaugurated the newly constructed University Administrative Block and Academic block C. Mr. Badal also released the charter and calendar of university.

Prominent amongst other present on the occasion included Cabinet Minister Mr. Sohan Singh Thandal, MLA Mr. Sarwan Singh Phillaur, former MLA Mr Sarabjeet Singh Makkar, Special Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Dr S Karunaraju, Deputy Inspector General of Police Kunwar Vijay Partap, Commissioner Jalandhar division R Venkatratnam and Deputy Commissioner Mr KK Yadav.
