New Delhi, May 20: The Aam Aadmi Party government today challenged the authority of Delhi Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung to cancel all appointments made by his government over the lasy four days as over issuing instructions to Delhi government even as Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal claimed that “everybody has got united against us”.
Hours after lieutenant governor cancelled all appointments made by the Kejriwal government in the last four days, deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia wrote a letter to Jung asking him which provisions of the Constitution gave him power to directly issue instructions to the government.
Kejriwal reacted saying, “Everybody has got united against us” adding “we don’t have to think about anything” so long his government had the people’s support.
Earlier in a letter to Kejriwal, the Lt Governor challenged AAP government’s order to bureaucrats not to follow his directives without securing approval from the CM or any other minister, maintaining he dthe power to decide on transfers and postings.
Jung also contested AAP government’s instructions to the officials to not route files through his office, saying he has been vested with power to decide on major policy issues. He referred to the constitutional provisions and norms laid down in this regard.
Jung said orders pertaining to transfers and postings by AAP govt in the last four days were not valid as they did not have his approval.
Kejriwal asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to allow the semi-state government to function “independently” and accused the Centre of trying to run the Delhi administration through Jung.
