New Delhi: Google celebrated Mother’s Day by paying tribute to mothers all around the world with a heart-warming doodle.
Visitors on the homepage are treated with a doodle which depicts mothers from the animal kingdom to the human world giving out unconditional love for her children.
The third alphabet of Google is animated on the homepage. When clicked it starts showing a duck taking care of her duckling. It then shows a cub crying and the mother comes rushing to her offspring. The doodle then moves on to show a mother rabbit sitting and her three children come hopping towards her.
And finally the animation turns into woman standing and a little boy is seen running towards her with a flower in his hand. The boy gives his mom a tight hug and the mother holds up the child in her arm and responds with a peck on his forehead.
Every year on the second Sunday of May, Mother’s Day is celebrated around the world.
The celebration of Mother’s Day began in 1900s when Philadelphia activist Anna Jarvis paid tribute to her mother on May 10, 1908. She then began a campaign to make Mother`s Day a recognised holiday in the US. After her tireless efforts, Mother`s Day became an official holiday in the US in 1914 and was also adopted by other countries including India.
