Jaye Robinson backs John Tory for mayor

Toronto, Coun. Jaye Robinson threw her support behind mayoral candidate John Tory Monday, saying she believes that his transit plan is the best for the city and that he will be able to work with others.
“John’s got a plan. He knows that transit is one of our number one issues we’re facing,” Robinson told reporters at a news conference at York Mills Station.” John’s plan is the best. It’s the fastest and most economically viable.”
She added that Tory will be able to work with council, as well as the federal and provincial governments to make his SmartTrack plan happen.

“That’s why John is the best candidate for the city of Toronto,” she said.
Tory welcomed Robinson’s praise, calling her a respected city councillor and also praising her for her work as a city hall bureaucrat before she ran for office.
Tory also used the announcement to take aim at new mayoral rival Doug Ford, who on Friday registered to run instead of his hospitalized brother, Mayor Rob Ford.
“I just happen to believe that Doug Ford represents more of the same… and possibly worse in terms of this combativeness, this divisiveness, this picking fights with people.”
Mayor Ford is currently awaiting a biopsy result to learn more about a tumour doctors discovered in his abdomen. Doug Ford has refrained from campaigning so far and a representative for his campaign said he would not make any appearances today either.
Robinson is the second councillor to throw her support behind Tory. The mayoral candidate also picked up support from Coun. John Fillion in August.
At the news conference Monday, he told reporters there will be many more councillors who eventually endorse him.
