Rahane stars in Royals’ victory

Mumbai, Ajinkya Rahane continued his sparkling form as he struck a 54-ball unbeaten 91 to help Rajasthan Royals beat Delhi Daredevils by 14 runs and bounce back from a five-match winless streak in IPL here today.
Rahane shared 113 runs with Karun Nair, who made 61 off 38 balls, from just 11.3 overs for the second wicket as Rajasthan scored an imposing 189 for 2 after being put into bat at their second home venue at the Braboune Stadium.
Chasing the stiff target of 190, Delhi could only score 175 for 7 in 20 overs to lose the one-sided contest, which turns out to be IPL’s 500th match. Rahane, who again climbed to the top of the highest run-getter list with 430 from 10 matches, hit nine fours and three sixes in his knock while Nair smashed six boundaries and two sixes as Rajasthan scored 75 runs from the last five overs.
The duo also capitalised on some sloppy fielding by the Delhi players as Rahane was dropped twice and Nair was dropped once. Rajasthan jump to the top of the league table with 14 points.
