Moga, May 1: While the All Party Action Committee formed to take up the case of molestation and death of a young girl entered into settlement with the district administration in the evening, the Aam Aadmi Party persisted with its demand for registration of the case against the owner of Orbit transport- Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal.
According to information available, the government agreed to hand over the trial to a fast track court for speedier justice, Rs 20 lakh compensation to the family of the victim and government service to one member of the family.
It may be mentioned that the incident took place in a bus of the Orbit Transport Company owned by Sukhbir Badal. The girl and her mother were thrown out of the running bus when they resisted molestation bid by the Orbit staff. The passengers did not intervene. Victim’s brother was also with them. He cried for help but none reacted. He was also thrown out later.
The situation continued to be tense as the family refused to take the body of the girl whose mother is in hospital. Her father was made to sign on a blank paper by the police.
The AAP leaders, even after the district administration settled the matter with the committee, continued to be adamant on the issue of registration of the case against Sukhbir.
