* Meets real estate developers and calls upon to focus on affordable houses with quality work
* Punjab contemplates to extend incentives for ‘iconic constructions’
Chandigarh, May 1: Deputy Chief Minister, Punjab Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal described Punjab as one of the fastest growing real estate destination in the country and called upon the real estate developers to come up architecture marvels for addressing the need of building affordable houses with quality work to facilitate common man. He said that Punjab would develop New Chandigarh and Mohali as most developed cities in the country.
Presiding over a meeting with top players of real estate business here, Mr. Badal said Punjab was growing in this sector in leaps and bounds and in coming time this state would have country’s most developed and conceptualized cities catering the needs of common mass for the next 50 years.
Mr. Badal apprised that New Chandigarh being setup adjacent to the city beautiful of Chandigarh and Mohali would be developed as ‘Model Cities’ of the country. He said that holy city Amritsar would also be developed as model city in next two years and the same will be replicated in rest of the state with world class infrastructure including roads, sewerage, potable water, landscaping, beautification, creation of green belts etc. Showcasing the potential investment opportunities in Punjab, Mr. Badal said that upcoming New Chandigarh in the greater Mohali area is all set to give new pace to economic growth and development to the state.
Envisioning construction of ‘Iconic Complexes’ in the state, Mr. Badal said that Punjab government was contemplating to extend incentives to those developers, who would construct iconic complexes along landscaping, green belts, attractive entrance and healthy atmosphere.
Calling upon developers to emphasise the need to construct affordable houses, Mr. Badal said it was the need of the hour to build such houses in group housing so that common masses in the state will be facilitated at large. Mr. Badal said these houses should be constructed with quality work to witness development having all necessary amenities maintaining environment, pollution norms.
On the demand put forth by developers to relax in density norms, Mr. Badal directed Secretary Housing to look into the matter and take appropriate decision with consultation of developers. Mr. Badal also assured the developers to increase the space norms for balcony in the group housing from 3 feet to 6. He said the issue will be resolved after detailed discussion with all stake holders.
Mr. Badal also formed a committee under Principal Secretary Housing Mr. Vishwajit Khanna to resolve the pending issues of developers within two weeks by holding meeting with all stakeholders.

Aujla, Principal Secretary to Deputy CM, Mr. Manvesh Singh Sidhu, CA PUDA, Mr. Rahul Tiwari, Special Principal Secretary to Deputy CM, representatives of various companies namely DLF, OMAXE, Shipra, IREO, Ansal API, Bajwa Developers, Manohar Singh Infrastructure, PCL, TDI etc.
