Death of arshdeep kaur in moga bus incident – FIR u/s 302 IPC and other sections registered

15* All four accused arrested

* Smt.gurpreet DEO, IPS, IG/NRI deputed to visit victim in hospital

Chandigarh, April 30 : Smt. Shinder Kaur, aged 36 years, accompanied by her daughter Arshdeep Kaur, aged 13 years and her son Akshaydeep Singh, aged 14 years was travelling from Moga to Baghapurana on April 29, 2015 after boarding bus no. PB-10 CP 1813 at about 4 pm.

As stated by Smt. Shinder Kaur, she boarded the bus along with her two children and sat in the rear on a window seat. She gave Rs. 100/- to the conductor and requested him to give three tickets. The conductor gave her two tickets and asked for Rs.10/- more. At this, Smt. Shinder Kaur objected and there was an altercation between her and the conductor and also a helper of the conductor. Smt. Shinder Kaur further stated that soon afterwards, the bus stopped at the toll barrier and another person known to the conductor boarded the bus. All three of them started making indecent gestures towards her daughter Arshdeep Kaur and upon objections by Smt. Shinder Kaur, all three also made indecent gestures towards her as well. When the bus was crossing village Gill, these three persons pushed her daughter Arshdeep Kaur out of the bus and also pushed Smt. Shinder Kaur out of the bus. Arshdeep Kaur sustained serious injuries and later succumbed to her injuries. Smt. Shinder Kaur sustained injuries on her forehead, chin, and body and became unconscious.

The statement of Smt. Shinder Kaur was recorded after she was declared fit for giving statement and a case FIR No. 62 dated 30-04-2015 u/s 302/307/354/120-B/34 IPC, 3 SC Act has been registered in police station Baghapurana.

The investigations have been conducted swiftly with all the four accused persons being arrested. The following are the details of accused persons arrested:

(i) Sukhwinder Singh @ Pamma s/o Iqbal Singh r/o Bahawal Basti, Abohar – conductor of bus no. PB-10 CP 1813

(ii) Gurdeep Singh @ Jimmy s/o Surinder Singh r/o Dashmesh Nagar, Moga – helper of the conductor

(iii) Ranjit Singh s/o Piara Singh r/o village Chak Ram Singhwala, district Bathinda – driver of the bus

(iv) Amarjit @ Dana s/o Nura Ram r/o village Chak Bakhtu, district Bathinda – associate of the conductor and helper

Smt. Gurpreet Deo, IPS, Inspector General of Police, NRI has been deputed d to visit Civil Hospital, Moga where Smt. Shinder Kaur is undergoing treatment for meeting her and to also oversee the investigations.

Sh. Harjeet Singh Pannu, Superintendent of Police, Detective, Moga has been deputed to visit village Landeke in district Moga to meet Smt. Shinder Kaur’s child Akshaydeep Singh and ensure his well being.

Sh. Iqbal Preet Singh Sahota, IPS, Additional Director General of Police, Crime, Punjab has been deputed to supervise the subsequent investigations and ensure speedy and effective prosecution.
