Farmer’s awareness camps to be started from September 20 : Ranike

* Inaugural camp would be organized at village Jaithuke, Amritsar
* Rs. 1 crore be incurred on farmers’ awareness camps in 1000 villages

Chandigarh, Punjab Government is going to organize Farmers’ Awareness camps in 1000 villages of the state with the motive to encourage the farmers to opt for subsidiary occupations and to spread awareness about different schemes of the department.

Disclosing this, Mr. Gulzar Singh Ranike, Animal Husbandry, Fisheries and Dairy Development Minister said that Punjab Government would organize Farmers’ Awareness Camps in 1000 villages and the State level inaugural camp would be organized at village Jaithuke (Amritsar) on September 20, 2014. He said that this initiated is aimed at getting the peasantry out of the 2 crop vicious circle and to encourage them to practice subsidiary occupations like fish farming, dairy, animal husbandry and bee keeping etc.

He said that every kind of available information on subsidiary occupations would be disseminated to the farmers during these camps. He said that Rs. 10,000 would be incurred on each awareness camp. “In total Rs. 1 crore has been earmarked for conducting 1,000 awareness camps in Punjab” he added.
