New Delhi, Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal today received a group of nearly 35 pilgrims from Mansa and Amritsar districts, who returned from earthquake shaken Kathmandu at Punjab Bhawan here tonight.
Disclosing this here today a spokesperson of the Chief Minister’s Office said that said that Mr. Badal described the earthquake as a grave natural tragedy and assured full and immediate help from the state government to all those affected by nature’s fury. He said that Punjab government would provide all help including transportation, blankets, food and other help to hapless victims of this grave tragedy. Interacting with the pilgrims, Mr. Badal enquired about the gravity of situation and loss to the life and property in Kathamandu and sought their views for the assistance/ relief required by the victims.
Meanwhile, President of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal has asked the SGPC to make all relief help available to victims in Kathmandu and parts of India. He also told the party rank and file to swing into relief operations in true traditions and spirit of khalsa panth.
The Chief Minister was accompanied by Speaker Punjab Vidhan Sabha Dr. Charanjit Singh Atwal, his Advisor on National Affairs and Media Mr. Harcharan Bains, MLA Mr. Manpreet Singh Aiyaali, Resident Commissioner Punjab Mr. K Sivaprasad and his Special Principal Secretary Mr. KJS Cheema.
