Skill development centers to be made operational this year

* Skill development high on government’s agenda

Chandigarh, The Punjab government today approved setting up of 8 development centers at the cost of Rs 60 crores to improve employability of our youth and to meet the demand of booming service and tertiary sectors

Disclosing this, an official spokesperson said that the state government intends to spend Rs. 60 crore on this multi skill development programme for setting up 6 skill development centres at Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Bathinda, Hoshiarpur, Roparand 3 skill development centres concerning health sector to be opened at Amritsar, Patiala and Faridkot.

The spokesperson further informed that not only this but 3 centers related with construction sector would also be opened in Majha, Malwa and Doaba regions of the state. He said that to make the functioning of these centres effective and without hindrance, assistance has been sought from National Skill Development Corporation.

The spokesperson also conveyed that in these skill development centers, short term courses of professional nature would be run and these courses shall be of 3 months, 6 months and 9 months duration. The spokesperson also elaborated that after the completion of the course the Government would make sure to get employment for a large number of pass outs in the various industrial organizations in the state.
