Malaysia airlines flight turns back

Singapore, Malaysia Airlines 3786.KU +1.96% said Sunday that one of its planes bound for India returned to Kuala Lumpur due to a fault with its autopilot system.

Flight 198 left Kuala Lumpur at 10:20 p.m. Saturday for Hyderabad, India, and returned nearly four hours later, Malaysia Airlines said in a statement.

Passenger safety was not compromised, it said, adding that the pilots decided to turn back as a precautionary measure.

Malaysia Airlines didn’t say how many people were on the plane or identify the type of aircraft.

According to Flightradar24, an independent flight-information provider, it was a Boeing BA -0.54% 737-800 single-aisle jet.
