Hoshiarpur- Dal Khalsa today appreciated and thanked members of the assembly of
California state of the US for expressing solidarity with aggrieved
Sikh community and holding Indian government officials responsible for
failing to prevent the killings of Sikhs in Nov 1984 and urging New
Delhi to admit its culpability.
Party spokesperson Kanwar Pal Singh and general secretary Dr Manjinder
Singh said the Assembly Concurrent Resolution 34 (ACR 34) has indicted
the then Indian government
officials for organizing, participating and failing to prevent the
killings and . He said for the first time any government or nation has
acknowledged that Indian government was responsible for slaughtering
of its own citizen across the country in Nov 1984. They said this
observation of US lawmakers was vindication of what Sikhs have been
saying all these years. They attached significance to this move of the
California state saying it could pave the way for other countries to
follow the path.
They said the international community has slowly but steadily had
started realizing the pain and concerns of the Sikhs, who remained
victims of ‘politics of genocide’ played by pro-Indian political
parties and supported by country’s establishment.
Terming both the Congress and the BJP two sides of the same coin, he
said both these main players of Indian polity have innocent blood of
minorities on their hands. “Congress rakes up Gujarat 2002 during
elections to woo Muslims votes. On the other hand, the BJP pays lip
service to 1984 genocide victims to show Congress in poor light”. But
the fact of the matter is both exploits hurt sentiments for political
gains.
