New Delhi, CBI Director Ranjit Sinha has urged the Supreme Court to dismiss allegations raised against him by the Centre for Public Interest Litigation unless it discloses the identity of the “whistleblower” who gave it information that he met and favoured those accused in the 2G scam.
In an affidavit filed on Saturday additionally to the one filed the previous day, the CBI chief said nothing stopped the non-governmental organisation from disclosing the identity of the whistleblower, at least confidentially. It was injustice to let the centre make the allegations without disclosing the source of information.
He said the concept of “whistleblower” did not arise in the case. “It arises if one is dealing with crimes committed where the whistleblower needs protection against the persons against whom some disclosure is sought to be made,” Mr. Sinha said.
He denied the Centre’s submissions that the court had admonished him for sharing sensitive information about the 2G scam probe with the government of the time.
