New Delhi, The Supreme Court on Friday stayed trial court proceedings against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in two criminal defamation cases.
A Bench headed by Dipak Misra also issued notice to Union Law Ministry on Kejriwal’s plea challenging the constitutional validity of criminal defamation laws.
One of the defamation cases against Kejriwal has been filed by BJP president Nitin Gadkari.
The SC asked the respondents to file their response in six weeks.
The Bench also tagged Kejriwal’s writ petition along with a similar petition filed by BJP leader Subramanian Swamy.
