Scrap Padma awards: Yadav

New Delhi, Alleging discrimination against backward classes, Dalits, SC/STs, minorities and farmers, the JD-U today upped its ante against the criterion for selecting candidates for Padma awards.JD-U president Sharad Yadav demanded scrapping the Padma Vibhusan and Padma Shri awards system. “I am of the firm opinion that unless we encourage and promote our real force which belongs to backward and minority classes…this practice should be discontinued as it discriminates with our vase majority of the people in the society,” Yadav said.
