Chandigarh, While refusing to stay the controversial film Nanak Shah Fakir, the Punjab and Haryana High Court today issued notices to the centre, Censor Board, Punjab Government and the Punjab Police for Monday next.
The film is set to be released on April 17 next.
The petitioner Satpal Singh of Ludhiana had prayed for ban on the film arguing this film violated the Sikh code of conduct. He stated he was a firm believer in Sikh faith which prohibits worship of idols. Moreover, as per the Sikh code, no living person could play the role of a Sikh Guru or his immediate family members. This film had the potential to hurt the Sikh sentiments.
It may be mentioned that the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee and several other Sikh organisations have demanded ban on its release.
