Anna to visit Ghuman today

Ghuman, (Gurdaspur), Social activist Anna Hazare will pay a one-day visit to Ghuman tomorrow. The non-descript township, 40 km from Gurdaspur, is associated with the journeys of Namdev, a 13th century saint of Maharashtra.
Anna will be felicitated by local residents at a gurdwara. Sanjay Nahar, president, ‘Sarhad’ (a social organisation), which is organising Akhil Bhartiya Marathi Sahitya Sammelan at Ghuman from April 3 to 5, is also the main organiser of Anna’s visit.
Anna has not been declared a ‘state guest’ by the Punjab government, due to which officials of the district administration will not be present at the venue. Nahar said Anna will be accompanied only by his personal assistant Datta Awari and his close associate Vinayak Rao Patil.
Anna will be coming to Ghuman from Jalandhar, where he is scheduled to attend a function in the morning. “After being felicitated at Ghuman, Hazare will return to Jalandhar to spend the night there before he proceeds to Khatkar Kalan on March 23,” added Nahar.
