Akal Takht Jathedar’s security cut

Amritsar, The SGPC withdrew one of the three vehicles that was used by security personnel to move along in the convoy of Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh.
The orders for the withdrawal of the vehicle came all of a sudden. Confirming the development, Jathedar’s personal assistant Jaswinder Pal Singh said they had received a copy of the SGPC orders.
He said they would now be left with two vehicles, one of which was in a bad shape while the other was used by the Jathedar himself. He said the security personnel who used to accompany the Jathedar in the escort vehicle (the one which is withdrawn) would also be withdrawn.
The SGPC had provided three vehicles and six security personnel to the Jathedar. Apart from it, he also has some Punjab Police personnel for his security.
Dalmegh Singh, SGPC secretary, refused to comment on the issue. Some SGPC officials said the Jathedar had two vehicles and one each could be used by him and his security personnel. They termed the move to withdraw his vehicle as part of the SGPC’s austerity measures.
