Five arrested for planning to avenge Sukha’s murder

Patiala,A Patiala police team has arrested Daljit Singh Bhana and his four armed companions from near Punjabi University. They were allegedly planning to avenge gangster Sukha Kahlwan’s killing. The accused were involved in several gang wars in the recent past.
They had allegedly been updating their Facebook profile with their activities to make their presence felt.
The accused have been identified as Bhana, Rajinder Singh, alias Billa, Ranbir Singh Sandhu, Satish Gill, alias Vicky Gill and Ram Gopal.
The police have seized two cars, fake passports, one .315 bore rifle, 53 live cartridges and four countrymade pistols.
The police claimed Bhana was involved in over 50 serious cases of crime. A police team comprising Superintendent of Police Jaskiranjit Teja and CIA in charge Bikramjit Brar got information through Facebook profile updates of Bhana that his gang was planning a major robbery before going out for an all-out war against their rival gang.
Gurmeet Singh Chauhan, Senior Superintendent of Police, said Bhana and his accomplices were earlier active members of gang of Sukha Kahlwan, Prema Lahoria and Harjinder Singh Vicky Gondar. “They were together when the gang was led by Sukha. After Kahlwan left for abroad, the gang was taken over by Prema Lahoria and Vicky Gondar. The gang then split into three, one led by Sukha, another by Bhana while Prema Lahoria and Vicky Gondar formed a separate gang,” Chauhan said.
Balkar Singh Sidhu, DIG, said: “In 2012, Bhana killed Sukha gang’s Ranbir Singh, Gondar gang’s Prema Lahoria and another gangster Ishant Kumar Prince. To avenge the deaths, Vicky Gondar group recently killed Sukha outside a Phagwara court.”
The police said after Sukha’s killing, Bhana started strengthening his gang to take revenge from Gondar gang. Bhana also used Facebook to pay homage to Sukha where he also declared to take revenge of his death.
