Chandigarh, The Community Affairs Division of Punjab police has compiled a huge data bank including more than 4, 00,000 FIRs, 6, 50,000 complaints, 8, 00,000 missing mobile data, 3000 unclaimed dead bodies data and more than 5, 00,000 passports duly scanned and made available on Saanjh Server, with a purpose to effectively use it to trace different crimes/criminals.
This was informed by Mr. SK Sharma, DGP/Community Policing during a one day workshop of IGP/Zones, DIG/Ranges and Commissioners of police held here at the Institute for Development and Communication. Mr. Sharma apprised the officers about the Institutional and administrative framework of Saanjh and urged the officers to devote their energies to strengthen the ‘Saanjh’ between police and community by effective monitoring and evaluation from time to time which will not only ensure greater transparency and accountability and better citizen satisfaction but would also help in improving the image of police.
Presiding over the workshop Dr. Parmod Kumar, Chairman, PGRC and Director, IDC explained the basic theme behind setting up of unique Saanjh Kendras to ensure time bound and effective delivery of services in a corporate office like environment. The focus was on engaging the Senior Police leadership in monitoring and evaluating the Saanjh Project. The capabilities of the Saanjh Software that connects offices of Zonal IGs, Range DIGs, CP/SSsP, various Saanjh Kendras and the Community Policing Wing at Headquarters, as a tool for monitoring and evaluation were also highlighted. .
It was stressed upon all officers to adopt pro-active approach in utilizing the data and resources of Saanjh for effective delivery of services and resolution of disputes. Issue raised by Saanjh Committees and Advisory Boards were also highlighted before the Sr. Officers to find ways & means to improve upon the public perception of police and Government.
