Replacing affidavits with “Self attestated declaration”, A big relief to common man

Nawanshahr, Replacing affidavits with the “Self Attested Declaration” by the Punjab Government  under its drive to implement governance reforms to ensure hassle free delivery mechanism has virtualy proved a boon for the common man in the district SBS Nagar.

Disclosing this here today, the deputy commissioner, Ravinder Singh, IAS, said that the system of abolishing the necessity of submitting affidavits has been saving the time and money of the common man. The decision of the state government  has brought an unprecedeted decrease in the practice of submitting affidavits for availing the delivery of various public utility services by the people in the district during the course of past few years, he added.

“The practice of submitting affidavits has witnessed a considerable fall from 48 % to 3.84 % in the district”, said the Deputy Commissioner, Ravinder Singh, while sharing comparative details of the practice of submitting affidavits by the applicants in the district.

“In the year 2005, about 50 % of the applications for availing the benefits of various public utility services in different departments need submission of affidavits by the applicants”, further said the DC while adding that it came down to 22.84 % and 6.56 %  in 2010 and 2011 respectively. After 2011, the practice witnessed further decrease and out of the total applications 165101, the affidavit was needed in merely 10834 cases, Similarly,  the affidavit was sought from the applicants only in 8309 cases out of total175317 ( 4.74 %) and 7824 out of 203769( 3.84 %)  in year 2014 and 2015 respectively.
