SAD-BJP alliance got sweeping majority in Municipal Committee and Nagar Panchyats elections

Chandigarh, The SAD-BJP alliance got a sweeping majority in election to the 122 Municipal Committee and Nagar Panchyats. In a statement released from the party head office the SAD Secretary & Spokesman, Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema said that out of 2044 Wards from the whole of the state the SAD has won 916, BJP-344, Congress-272 and independent got elected in 512 Wards. The results for two wards have not been declared. Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema said that it is a historical verdict and people of the state from urban area have supported the policies of SAD-BJP govt. These elections results have set the tone and agenda for 2017 assembly elections.

Dr. Cheema futher said that in Amritsar the alliance has won all the five committee. Similarly there is clean sweep in Ferozpur, Tarn-Taran, Moga and Mohali. He said that the Congress has been able to attain majority only Nurmahal, Khanna, Doraha and Nawashahar towns only. In all other town for which the results have been declared the SAD-BJP alliance is heading to take control of civic bodies.
