New Delhi, After the Aam Aadmi Party’s ‘sting operation’ puportedly showing BJP attempting to buy support of its MLAs to help form government in Delhi, party convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday evening met with Delhi Police Commissioner BS Bassi and asked him to file FIR against BJP leaders.
“We have submitted the CD of the sting operation with formal complaint to Police Commissioner, requested to file an FIR,” Kejriwal said after his meeting with Bassi. In the video, BJP’s Delhi unit vice president Sher Singh Dagar allegedly offered bribe to AAP MLA from Sangam Vihar Dinesh Mohania to switch sides.
Talking to mediaperson, Kejriwal told that he has requested the Delhi Police chief to arrest Dagar and interogate him.
Accusing BJP of indulging in horse-trading, the AAP had yesterday requested Delhi Lt Governor Najeeb Jung to revise the letter sent to President Pranab Mukherjee seeking permission to invite the BJP to form government in Delhi. Former Delhi chief minister Kejriwal also sought dissolution of the Assembly.
The Supreme Court on Tuesday gave Jung one full month to make efforts to form government in Delhi and noted that the delay in resolution will encourage more horse-trading.
In the 2012 Delhi Assembly election, BJP had won 31 seats in the 70-member house, while AAP unexpectedly won 28 seats and on the other the ruling Congress managed to bag only 8.
BJP, the single party has 28 MLAs and its ally Akali Dal has one MLA. BJP had won 31 seats but three party legislators Harsh Vardhan, Ramesh Bidhuri and Pervesh Verma were elected to Lok Sabha and had to resign their Assembly seats.
Delhi has been under President’s rule since February 17 following resignation of Arvind Kejriwal-led-AAP government which was in power for 49 days.
