Chandigarh, HQs. Western Command organized a one week long training capsule for defence veterans and those on the verge of being veterans with the aim to empower them for a second career after superannuation. Addressing the trainees on the valedictory day today, the GOC-in-C of the command Lt. General K.J.Singh said that this second innings of life is a great art by itself and it has to be played aesthetically. Ageing, he said, is just a state of mind and that a man of spirit never retires in life.
The training was organized at Chandimandir Cantonement from 16-21 February under the aegis of Directorate of Resettlement, Zone West in collaboration with State Bank of India. As many as 65 personnel attended the capsule which focused on the specifics of Bank security. Providing additional details Brig. Amardeep Bhardwaj – the Additional Director General explained that this singular event was only one in a series of wide-ranging initiatives planned to upskill the veterans and those who are about to be veterans.
The training included actual crime and security-preparedness, use of bank-security devices, handling of bank fire safety apparatus and site visits to banks.
