Jalandhar, BJP State president Kamal Sharma has condemned the incident of the cow slaughter in Malerkotla (Sangrur). He has said that the incident was an attempt to disturb the communal harmony in the state. He also slammed the repeated attempts to hurt the religious sentiments of the majority community in Malerkotla. BJP has demanded from the administration that people behind the incident must be arrested without any delay and should be punished. Sharma assured that the state BJP will take up this issue with the Punjab CM Parkash Singh Badal. In a statement issued to the press, Kamal Sharma stated that yesterday some cows were found dead in a nullah near the Kuka Memorial in malerkotla which has left the people in the state extremely pained. He expressed his fear stating that ever since the Narendra Modi government has taken over the reigns of the country, attempts are being made by certain forces to pollute the atmosphere of communal harmony in order to defame the union government. He further stated that it was matter of extreme dismay that the continuous efforts are being made to disturb the religious feelings of the majority community in Malerkotla. He pointed out that earlier a child Vidhu Jain was set ablaze and the inquiry into the matter is still pending with CBI. Apart from this, incidents aimed at disturbing a particular community keep happening, which clearly indicates that Malerkotla was fast becoming communally sensitive region. Sharma has assured those who have raised their voice against the cow slaughter that the party was firmly behind those agitating.
