Chandigarh,The Punjab government today notified a revolutionary step to simplify pension payment to its pensioners by allowing them digital life certificate.
According to an official spokesman, necessary amendments have been made in Para 13 of instructions issued by department of Finance on 13th June, 1977 and now a digital life certificate issued online by Government agency as a result of Aadhaar biometric authentication will be accepted as a valid life certificate. The spokesman clarified that this document can be accessed through a Website (www.jeevanpramaan.gov.in) by the Pension Disbursing Agency without insisting either on personal appearance of the pensioner or Life certificate by the competent authority referred above.
It may be added that earlier every pensioner had to personally present themselves to the Drawing & Disbursing Agency or Payment Bank in the month of November and sign the life certificate in the presence of banker and now this digital life certificate would save the pensioners from this mandatory annual visit to the pension paying authority.
Instructions in this regard have been issued to all heads of departments, commissioners of divisions, deputy commissioners, drawing and disbursing officers, banks for strict compliance.
