Campus Hiring Across Tier 2, 3 Colleges Rose by 7% This Year: Survey

Campus placements at Tier 2, and 3 Indian colleges saw a 7 per cent year-on-year surge in 2023, revealed a survey by GetWork, an HR Tech platform.

Placement numbers have increased to 12,050 this year as compared to 11,310 last year. The report analysed the top hiring trends for the period between January to November 2022 and 2023 on 262 tier 2, and 3 colleges, 730 employers, and 1,90,482 students.

The report also added that Banking Finance Securities and Insurance (BFSI), followed by Healthcare, Manufacturing, Pharmaceuticals, and Retail were the top five industries with the highest job openings in 2023. The top in-demand job roles this year were Business Development Executive, Data Analyst, Customer Service Executive, and Digital marketing intern, as per the report. However, this year, tier 2 and 3 colleges witnessed a decline in startup job offers.

“The year 2023 was marked by seismic changes in the recruitment landscape, featuring high employee turnover rate and integration of technological advancements like GenAI,” the HR tech platform said.

Commenting on the report, GetWork CEO and founder, Rahul Veerwal said, “This jump in placement numbers is a testament to the massive talent available in Tier 2, 3 colleges and corporates’ shifting hiring strategies. This jump can also be attributed to our use of advanced Data Analytics, bucketing the right talent for the right opportunity and pre-assessing the candidates to build a ready pipeline for Enterprise clients.”

In 2024, Veerwal says that BFSI and Healthcare are expected to emerge as the fastest-growing sectors, with EMPI (Engineering, Manufacturing, Process, and Infrastructure) poised to witness the highest growth ever. “2024 is poised to be a great employment year with accelerated recruitment in automobile, manufacturing, Oil and Gas, and Infrastructure sectors,” he said. In addition, new-age job roles such as Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning engineer, followed by Digital Marketer, Healthcare Professional, and Human Resource manager are projected to be the most sought-after roles next year, he added.
