Marriage with Ruturaj Gaikwad will not harm my career: Utkarsha Pawar

Chennai Super Kings opener and India star player Ruturaj Gaikwad is latest among the list of cricketers to tie a knot. The 26-year-old tied a knot with Maharashtra cricketer Utkarsha Pawar just days after clinching the IPL 2023 title with his Yellow Army.

While many wonder if she will continue to play the sport, while a few others were positive of the support she has got from her family. Lifting the lid over her cricketing career, Utkarsha finally broke silence on her future in the sport.

‘I will continue to play cricket for as long as I wish and as long as my body allows me. One can be 200 per cent sure about it, not just 100 per cent. I am repeatedly asked about my career now that I am married. Not from the family but the outsiders seem to be worried about it,’ Utkarsha said in an interaction with Marathi podcast ‘Coffee, Cricket Aani Barach Kaahi’.

She further added that the family is very supportive. ‘I have the full support of my parents, husband Ruturaj Gaikwad and my in-laws. I will continue to play cricket as long as I wish and as long as I can since my life revolves around cricket,’ she further added.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s aura is something different: Utkarsha

While speaking in the Marathi podcast, Utkarsha also lamented on her interaction with former India skipper MS Dhoni. Hailing the CKS skipper, Utkarsha added, ‘Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s aura is something different. When you are meeting him, you end up calling him sir. But he is so humble and down to earth, it’s unbelievable.’

It is to be noted that Ruturaj Gaikwad was recently part of the Indian side for Test and ODIs against West Indies. However, he hasn’t been named in ongoing five-match T20I series against West Indies, he has been named Jasprit Bumrah’s deputy in the three-match Ireland series, tarting August 18.
