New Delhi: In a recent event, a 73-year-old woman died due to malfunction of lift in the Paras Tierea society, Noida. According to the reports, the woman suffered a few injuries to the had injuries on the back of her head and abrasion on elbows due to the fall.
It was also reported that she has no pulse when she was brought to the hospital. The doctor said that no pulse and dilated eyelids suggest a possible sudden cardiac arrest due to the fall. This is not all, Dr Mukesh Goel, Senior cardiac surgeon at Apollo hospital, Delhi said there is no way to prevent sudden cardiac arrest during such events.
Sudden cardiac arrest can also occur among healthy hearts
Dr Goel explained that traumatic events like these can take a heavy toll on even a healthy heart. “Free-falling from the eighth floor is a major traumatic event. The only way to prevent the consequences is to avoid these accidents. Even a healthy heart can lead to sudden cardiac arrest in such traumatic events.”
Sudden cardiac arrest is a condition in which the heart suddenly stops beating. This condition occurs when heart’s electrical system malfunctions and suddenly becomes irregular. It can also occur when the heart begun beating dangerously fast.
Although these cases cannot be assumed, the Noida incident raises an alarm for the authorities to be more cautious. These mishaps are life-threatening and can leave a life-long scar for others.
Symptoms of sudden cardiac arrest
In majority of cases, the condition takes place without any symptoms. Here are a few symptoms of sudden cardiac arrest:
Fainting or Unconsciousness
Racing heartbeat
Chest pain
Dizziness
Shortness of breath
