Punjab received investments more than Rs.40,000 crores in first year: Anmol Gagan Mann

Cabinet Minister, Anmol Gagan Mann shared information regarding the achievements of the state government with the media on the completion of one year of the Punjab government today at Chandigarh.

Addressing the media in a press conference, Punjab Minister for Investment Promotion, Tourism and Cultural Affairs, Labour and Hospitality Anmol Gagan Mann said that due to the visionary thinking of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Punjab has received the investments more than Rs.40 thousand crores in the first year. She said that earlier the Congress government got only Rs 5 thousand crore investment during their first year 2017-18. She added that this investment of Rs.40 thousand crores has been made by renowned companies of the world. Mentioning some of those big industries, she said that Tata Steel Rs.2600 crores, Sonathon Policott Pvt Ltd Rs.1600 crores, Nabha Power Ltd Rs.641 crores and Max Specialty Films Ltd Rs.548 crores and other famous industrialists have invested considering good and safe environment of Punjab for industry. The minister said that with this investment of more than Rs.40 thousand, more than 2.50 lakh employment opportunities will be created for the youth in Punjab. She told that behind this great success of Punjab is the result of the tireless efforts of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Who got this investment by having one-to-one meetings with big industrialists. The minister said that more than 2500 big investors showed interest in investing in Punjab in the 5th Progressive Investment Summit. She added that now the sectoral investment summit will be held at the quarterly basis, which will give a big boost to the industrial sector of Punjab.

The minister said that in the first year itself, the state government has released Rs 86.65 crore to 61,764 construction workers through the Building and Construction Workers Welfare Board. She said that the state government has also increased the wages of construction workers. She told that for the convenience of labor, the state government has launched “Sahayak Kirti App”. She said that 655 camps were organized to register construction workers and create awareness about government schemes.

Speaking on tourism and cultural affairs in Punjab, the Cabinet Minister said that, With the Punjab Water Tourism Policy-2023 and Punjab Adventure Tourism Policy-2023 Punjab will be made the first choice of tourists as a tourist destination. She explained that the Shaheed Bhagat Singh Museum at Khatkarkalan, the native village of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, will be upgraded with new technology so that the youth of the country can get an understanding and inspiration from the life of the great freedom fighter. She said that Rs.29.24 crore rupees have been released to the district administration for acquisition of land to build the heritage complex of village Baba Nanak at Sultanpur Lodhi Kapurthala.

Sharing the information, the cabinet minister said that the state government has given big guarantees like about 27000 jobs to the youth, 300 units of free electricity per month, 500 Mohalla clinics, ex-gratia grant of Rs. 1 crore to the families of the martyrs. have completed. She explained said that 117 schools of eminence have been started in the state so that Punjab can become a leading state in the field of education. She said that the state government has not only taken efforts to save the underground water but it has happened for the first time that a Chief Minister of Punjab has taken a strong stand on the Sutlej-Yamuna-Link canal issue. She said that by dealing strictly with the mining mafia, sand is being given at cheap rates by the state government, which has brought great relief to the common people.

The Minister said that the main objective of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s government is to provide corruption-free administration to every citizen. She added that no corrupt person will be spared.
