Vigilance Bureau nabs one person for taking bribe Rs 4 lakh, alleged to be close aid of Bhatinda MLA

The Punjab Vigilance Bureau, keeping the zero tolerance policy against corruption adopted by the government of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, on Thursday nabbed one individual Reshim Garg, alleged to be close aid of MLA of Aam Aadmi Party from Bathinda rural, red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs. 4 lakh.

Disclosing this here today, a spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said the above said accused Rashim Garg, resident of Samana, Patiala district, has been arrested on the basis of complaint made by Pritpal Kumar, husband of Seema Rani, Sarpanch of village Ghuda, block Sangat, Bathinda district.  He further added that the said complainant approached the Bureau and alleged that the above said accused was demanding a bribe of Rs 5 lakh from her wife in lieu for releasing a government grant of Rs 25 lakh from BDPO Sangat to Gram Panchayat Ghuda, but they didn’t want to pay bribe for this work. The complainant further informed that the accused has already taken Rs 50,000 as a bribe by compelling him and demanding the remaining money.

After the preliminary investigation of the said complaint, the Vigilance Bureau laid a trap and arrested the said accused red-handed in the presence of two official witnesses while accepting a bribe of Rs 4 lakh as a second instalment from the complainant. In this regard, a case has been registered against the said accused at vigilance bureau police station Bathinda under Prevention of Corruption Act and further investigation in this case was under progress.
