In Ferozepur, 15 benches in Lok Adalat settle 2,027 cases with Rs.29.74 Cr awards
Ferozepur, February 11, 2023: In all,15 benches in Lok Adalat settled, 2,027 cases with awards for Rs.29,74,55,749 in 2,027 cases against 3,241 cases presented.
Divulging with the details, District and Sessions Judge, Virinder Aggarwal said, in the National Lok Adalat held today, in all 15 benches in District Ferozepur, one bench at permanent Lok Adalat, 3 benches at Zira and 2 at Guruharsahai were created besides one Consumer Court and 8 Revenue Courts.
Ekta Uppal, CJM-cum-Secretary, District Legal Services Authority was also present on this occasion.
Out of 3,241 cases, 2027 cases were settled in the Lok Adalat today which comes to 6.5% of the total pending cases in Ferozepur district and thus reducing the list of pending cases. In all the Lok Adalats benches, awards for Rs.29,26,19,093 were passed, while awards for Rs.48,36,656 were also passed by settling 582 cases out of the cases pending at the pre-litigation stage. So, in this way, many cases of various types like civil, bail able criminal, cheque bounce, recovery, traffic challan, domestic dispute and pre-litigation cases including bank recovery, private finance company, mobile and telephone etc., which have been going on for a long time, were settled with mutual consent, said District and Sessions Judge.
He further said that there is no appeal argument for the cases decided in Lok Adalat. The judgment passed in the Lok Adalat is recognized as a decree and the parties get relief from litigation and other mental troubles.
Session Judge also informed about the facilities provided by the District Legal Services Authority – DLSA.
