Services Sports Control Board continued their dominance of the Shooting range on Day 5 of the National Games. Jitu Rai won two Gold Medals in the pistol event while former World Cup winner Ronjan Sodhi won Gold in men’s double trap.
10m Pistol
The Services team that consisted of Jitu Rai, Gurpreet Singh and Omkar Singh won the gold medal in 10m pistol team event. The shooters had a combined score of 1724 in the end. Punjab won silver with 1712 points and Uttar Pradesh Settled for Bronze with a tally of 1711.
JItu once again took centre stage on the Individual event to bag the gold medal with 200.9 points while his Services team mate, Omkar won silver with 197.5. Amit Kumar of Madhya Pradesh won Bronze with 177.9 points.
50m Rifle 3 Position
Kerala’s Golden girl, Elizabeth Koshy was at her best on Day 5. She won the Gold medal in 50m rifle 3 position category with 445.9 points, just a couple of days after her triumph in the 50m rifle event. Vedangi Tuljapurkar (444.7) of Maharashtra won silver and Sandhya Winfred of Tamil Nadu took home a Bronze.
Maharashtra won gold in the team category with Vedangi combining with Anjali Bhagwat and former World Champion Tejaswini Sawant. The team had a score of 1710 while Haryana and Punjab won silver and bronze respectively.
25m Pistol
Rahi Sarnobat of Maharashtra won the gold in 25m women’s pistol event. Surbhi Pathak (Madhya Pradesh) won the silver while Rahhi’s teammate Shreya Gawande won Bronze.
It turned out to be double delight for Rahi in the team event as Rahi teamed with Shreya and Shradha Nalamwar to help Maharashtra win gold with a final score of 1722. Haryana won the Silver medal and Madhya Pradesh won bronze.
Trap Events
Former World Cup winner Ronjan Sodhi won the yellow metal in the double trap event for men. Haryana won the silver and bronze with Ankur Mittal and Sangram Dahiya finishing second and third.
Haryana dominated in the team event after overcoming the challenge from Uttar Pradesh. Madhya Pradesh won the bronze.
In the women’s event, Rajasthan’s Shagun Chowdhary won gold with a final tally of 93 points. Varsha Tomar (91) of Services bagged silver while Bihar’s Shreyasi Singh won the Bronze.
The team competition for women saw Madhya Pradesh win gold. Services win Silver and Tamil Nadu add a bronze to their kitty.
