Mumbai, Aditya Verma, secretary of the Cricket Association of Bihar (CAB), has said Shivlal Yadav and Rajiv Shukla are ineligible to contest for the post of president of the Board for Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
The Supreme Court, in an order on January 22, ruled that elections be held to the Board within six weeks of that date.
Commercial interest
Mr. Verma cited a conflict-of-interest clause in the order barring any official with commercial interests in the BCCI from contesting the election.
Mr. Yadav, a former Test player, is the interim BCCI president, and Mr. Shukla, former IPL chairman, vice-president.
“Both have commercial interests in the BCCI, and their contesting will amount to contempt of court,” Mr. Verma said in a statement.
