“The members and the voters in Delhi have decided to extend support to the BJP. When the Haryana elections were held, support was extended just two days before the elections, same is being done,” said Pradeep Insa, head of the political wing of Dera Sacha Sauda.
Taking strong exception to the news, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Yogendra Yadav said it showed why the censor board was unceremoniously packed off in the case of ‘MSG’ movie.
“Dera Sacha Sauda extends support to BJP. Now we know why the censor board was unceremoniously packed off in the case of MSG movie,” Yadav tweeted.
Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, the head of Dera Sacha Sauda that has a huge following in parts of Delhi and Haryana, featured in a recent movie ‘MSG: Messenger of God’ which hit controversies even before its release.
Censor board chief Leela Samson quit in protest after the movie was given clearance by the Film Certification Appellate Tribunal.
The Mohali-based Sikh body, Kalgidhar Sewak Jatha, had sought a ban on the movie claiming that the film’s screening would pose a serious threat to the law and order situation in Punjab and Haryana.
