Chandigarh, The Punjab State Backward Classes Land Development and Finance Corporation has set aside Rs. 43 crores to provide credit facility to 4700 young beneficiaries in the state to start their self-employment ventures.
According to an official spokesman, as per the proposed plan under NBCFDC Scheme (The National Backward Classes Finance and Development Corporation) 2200 beneficiaries would get loans to the tune of Rs. 20 crore and same amount would be disbursed to 2200 beneficiaries under NMDFC (The National Minorities Development & Finance Corporation). He said under direct loan scheme as many as 300 beneficiaries would get loans to the tune of Rs. 3 crore for setting up their own ventures.
The spokesman said that the corporation has been providing loans to Backward Classes and economically weaker sections from its share capital with annual interest rate of 0 to 7 percent under direct loan scheme. He said that under this scheme from March 1, 2012 to October 31, 2014 loans to the tune of Rs. 119.70 lakh have been disbursed to 120 beneficiaries. He said besides this under term loan scheme of NBCFDC, Saksham Scheme, Shilap Sampada Scheme, Education Loan Scheme, New Swarnima Scheme, Micro Financing Scheme, Mahila Samridhi Yojana and Krishi Sampada Scheme loans to the tune of Rs. 1180.84 lakh have been disbursed to 1093 beneficiaries of backward classes between March 1, 2012 and October 31, 2014.
The spokesman further informed that under vocation training program of NBCFDC and NMDFC 576 candidates had been got training at various institutes of the state. He said the needy girls belonging to Backward Classes could avail the facility of education loan @ 3.5 percent annual interest. He said candidates could also get loans up to Rs. 50,000 @ 5 percent interest rate under NMDFC scheme.
It is also pertinent to mention here that under Direct Loan Scheme Backfinco has been providing loans for dairy farming, poultry, bee keeping, carpenter/furniture/flour mill, hardware store, building material, iron workshop, clothes, readymade garments shop, cycle sale and repair, books/stationary shop, Photostat machine, tailoring, photography and videography @ 6 percent interest rates. He said NBCFDC and NMDFC schemes people, desirous of general store (karyana/cattle/poultry feed) and electronics/electrical sale and repair, can get Rs. 2.5 lakh and for hardware store (sanitary and building material) people can get loans up to Rs. 3 lakh, for courier agency, general insurance business the beneficiaries can avail the loan facility up to Rs. 1 lakh with annual interest rate of 6 percent.
