With 7,231 new infections being reported in a day, India’s COVID-19 tally rose to 4,44,28,393, while the number of active cases came down to 64,667, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Wednesday.
The death toll climbed to 5,27,874 with 45 new fatalities which include 10 deaths reconciled by Kerala, the data updated at 8 am stated.
The ministry said the active cases comprise 0.15 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate has increased to 98.67 per cent.
A drop of 1,065 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 case count in a span of 24 hours. The daily positivity rate was recorded at 2.05 per cent. The weekly positivity rate was recorded at 2.55 per cent, according to the health ministry.
The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 4,38,35,852, while the case fatality rate was recorded at 1.19 per cent.
According to the ministry, 212.39 crore doses of Covid vaccine have been administered in the country so far under the nationwide vaccination drive.
Delhi on Tuesday reported 382 fresh COVID-19 cases with a positivity rate of 2.85 per cent, while five more people died due to the infection, according to data shared by the city health department here.
The new cases came out of 13,382 tests conducted the previous day, the department said in its latest bulletin. With the fresh cases and fatalities, Delhi’s infection tally increased to 19,99,240 and the death toll climbed to 26,467, it said.
With 494 fresh cases, including a returnee from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Tamil Nadu‘s COVID-19 tally has climbed to 35,68,166, the health department said on Tuesday.
The death toll due to the viral disease remained unchanged at 38,035 as there was no fresh fatality in the last 24 hours, according to a medical bulletin.
West Bengal‘s COVID-19 tally rose to 21,06,778 on Tuesday as 154 more people tested positive for the infection, while one fresh fatality pushed the toll to 21,462, a health bulletin said.
The state now has 2,561 active cases, while 20,82,755 people have recovered from the disease so far, including 308 in the last 24 hours. The administration has tested 8,347 samples for COVID-19 on Monday.
Telangana on Tuesday recorded 190 new COVID-19 cases, taking the tally to 8,34,333. Hyderabad district saw the highest number of cases with 82.
A health department bulletin said 376 people recuperated from the infection and the cumulative number of recoveries till date was 8,28,484.
The recovery rate stood at 99.30 per cent. No fresh fatality occurred due to the infectious disease and the death toll continued to be 4,111.
Chhattisgarh on Tuesday reported 79 new COVID-19 cases at a positivity rate of 3.07 per cent, taking the overall tally to 11,73,653, while the death toll increased by one to reach 14,110, an official said.
The recovery count rose to 11,58,574 after 225 people recuperated from the infection during the day, leaving the state with 969 active cases, he said.
“Raipur led with 20 cases, followed by 13 in Durg, 6 in Bastar, 4 in Rajnandgaon and one in Bilaspur, among other districts. No new coronavirus cases were reported in 10 of the 28 districts in the state,” the official said.
Rajasthan recorded 244 new Covid cases that pushed the infection tally to 13,08,532, while two more fatalities pushed the death toll to 9,627, a medical bulletin issued here said on Tuesday.
Of the fresh cases, the maximum 47 were recorded in Jaipur, it said, adding that the number of active cases stands at 2,767. One person each died in Jaipur and Dausa due to the infection, it said.
The COVID-19 tally in Madhya Pradesh reached 10,53,428 on Tuesday after the detection of 48 fresh cases, while no new death linked to the infection was reported in the state, a health department official said.
The death toll remained unchanged at 10,770. The coronavirus positivity rate, or confirmed cases per 100 tests, stood at 0.9 per cent, he said.
The patient recovery count increased by 82 to touch 10,42,265, leaving the state with 393 active cases, the official informed.
