All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul-Muslimeen (AIMIM) leader Asaduddin Owaisi hit out at the Congress and its leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday, declaring that the party “will implode” in times to come.
Participating in a debate at Agenda Aaj Tak, Owaisi fought it out with Bharatiya Janata Party’s Sudhanshu Trivedi over who is playing second fiddle to the BJP or the Congress in the name of fighting against them.
Referring to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s attempt to expand her Trinamool Congress (TMC) in several states at once, Owaisi said, “She should keep fighting in other states, and with the Congress I am telling you the Congress will implode in two three years.”
Doesn’t Owaisi have faith in Rahul Gandhi’s leadership?
“Who is Rahul Gandhi? I don’t know him. If you know who he is, please tell me,” said Owaisi.
“We are dubbed as the B-team of every party. If you call Rahul Gandhi here, he would speak the same language as the BJP and so will Akhilesh Yadav [of the Samajwadi Party],” he said.
Owaisi said, “Now Mamata Banerjee has been made a B-teamI object to this, being a B-team is my tag. Now the Congress is calling them the B-team of the BJP. It will be interesting to see how they fight it out in Goa.”
Countering Owaisi, Trivedi said, “Parties like AIMIM and leaders such as Owaisi are raised by the Congress from Kerala, where they allied with the Muslim League, to Bengal where they allied with Abbas Pirzada’s party and in Assam where the Congress went into alliance with Badruddin Ajmal’s AIUDF.”
