Driving Naari Programme launched in Chandigarh
The state government has asked the city airport authorities to take all the precautionary measures to tackle the rapidly emerging new coronavirus variant Omicron.
Reportedly, RT-PCR tests and quarantine for all the passengers arriving on international flights, including Dhaka, Singapore and London have been made mandatory.
Flyers will also have to undergo quarantine and the authorities will also strictly monitor the travel history of each international passenger.
Moreover, random testing will be conducted at the city airport and if any passenger is found positive, he/she will be immediately sent for institutional quarantine.
According to a report published in the Times of India (TOI), London, Dhaka and Singapore are the only places among the list of ‘at risk’ countries that have a direct connection with Kolkata.
Passengers arriving on flights from these places will be tested at the airport itself and they will have to wait at the terminal for at least six hours for their results, only after which they will be allowed to leave.
On account of the new variant of Coronavirus which is also termed as ‘a variant of concern’, the Central government on Sunday revised guidelines for international travellers arriving from Europe, including the UK and 11 other ‘at risk’ countries.
