Health ministry advises states not to insist on negative Covid test report for those fully vaccinated

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Wednesday issued fresh guidelines for domestic travel in which it said that states must not insist on a negative RT-PCR test report for those who have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19 and 15 days have elapsed.

The ministry advised states not to restrict inter-state transport by air, rail, road or water. In case, RT-PCR tests or Rapid Antigen Testing (RAT) is required prior to entry, they must be publicised widely so as to “maximise traveller convenience”.

” Asymptomatic persons who have been vaccinated with both doses of the Covid-19 vaccine and 15 days have lapsed since the administration of second dose of the vaccine and are in possession of the final vaccination certificate issued through the Co-WIN portal, such persons may be exempted from mandatory requirement of possessing a negative RT-PCR report or RAT test on their entry into the State,” the guidelines stated.
