Punjab records highest single day spike of 2,526 Covid-19 cases, tally jumps to 74,616

Punjab on Friday recorded the highest single day spike of 2,526 cases, taking the total Covid-19 tally in the state to 74,616.

The death toll in the state jumped to 2,212 with 63 Covid-related fatalities reported in the last 24 hours.

According to the media bulletin released by the Health Department, Jalandhar reported the maximum 326 cases on Friday, followed by Patiala (315), SAS Nagar (262) and Gurdaspur (237).

Meanwhile, 1,402 patients have been discharged from various care centres across the state in the last 24 hours after being treated for the infection.

As per the Health Department, out of 13,32,564 samples collected so far, 74,616 have returned positive. Also, there are 19,096 active cases in the state.
