Chandigarh, Sacked Takht Damdama Sahib Jathedar Giani Balwant Singh Nandgarh was in for a big shock when the Takht authorities today denied him the bir of Guru Granth Sahib to start path at his residence.
He is till to vacate the official residence of the Jathedar following his unceremonious dismissal by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee for refusing to fall in line on the issue of withdrawal of Nanakshahi calendar.
The basic issue now is can the Takht authorities deny a Sikh who maintains rehat maryada the bir of Guru Granth Sahib to start path at one’s residence. It is Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh and the SGPC chief Avtar Singh Makkar who need to clarify this basic issue. It is that of the relationship of a Sikh with the gurdwara.
Giani Nandgarh then made the arrangement from another gurdwara.
