Dubai preparing to host EXPO2020, India-UAE ties growing strong: Ambassador Albanna

New Delhi

India and the United Arab Emirates bilateral ties entered a new era during the past four years with the relationship now on a different track, Ambassador Ahmed Albanna said here.

“Ever since Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid a visit to Abu Dhabi during August 2015 and the Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahayan came to New Delhi in February 2016, the ties are growing exponentially,” he said.

Ambassador Albanna was interacting with the media on the official launch of a year-long campaign for EXPO2020 to be hosted by Dubai from October 2020 to April 2021 on the theme of ‘Connecting Minds, Creating the Future’’ with sub-themes on Opportunity, Mobility, and Sustainability.
Albanna said the growth story of India-UAE bilateral ties moved away from the confines of oil and gas to other sectors including security, information technology, financial security, education, tourism, logistics and people-to-people and continue to grow, he said, and added, “Today the bilateral trade stands at $60 billion”.

FICCI officials coordinating the event along with Commerce Ministry said India was setting up a permanent pavilion that will have 27 sectors across various fields, with emphasis on pharmaceutical and IT industries. The Expo will also have thematic displays synchronised with the organising country. For instance, if Abu Dhabi is displaying Health, the Indian pavilion will also have similar participation.
