On the opening day of the session that was wrapped up in 14 minutes, the Punjab Vidhan Sabha paid tributes to eminent personalities who had passed away since the last session of the Assembly.
Tributes were also paid to Fatehveer, who had died after falling in a borewell, after SAD MLA Parminder Dhindsa, MLA from Atam Nagar, Ludhiana, Simarjit Bains and AAP MLA Aman Arora raised the issue.
Obituary references were made to veteran Congress leader and former Delhi CM Sheila Dikshit, who passed away on July 20, as well as former Rajya Sabha Member Virender Kataria, who was member of the Rajya Sabha from 1992 to 1998.
Tributes were also paid to other eminent personalities, including Kikkar Singh, former MP from Bathinda in 1967; Hamir Singh Ghagga, former minister and MLA from Shutrana constituency in 1992; former CPS and MLA Chaudhary Nand Lal; former member of the Punjab Legislative Council Sneh Lata as well as former MLAs Balwant Singh, Paramjit Singh and Karnail Singh Dod.
Freedom fighters Gurmej Singh, Kulwant Singh, Isher Singh, Ujagar Singh, Jangir Singh, Santa Singh and SGPC member Jathedar Lakhvir Singh were also remembered by the House.
On the proposal of Speaker Rana KP Singh, the House unanimously agreed to include the name of Baba Labh Singh, known as Pulan Wale Baba from Sri Anandpur Sahib, in the list of obituary references.
Baba Labh Singh had got nine bridges constructed over the Sutlej through kar sewa.
Sidhu skips first day
