Amritsar, July 18
Pakistan PM Imran Khan is no longer on the SGPC list of invitees for the nagar kirtan proposed from Gurdwara Nankana Sahib to Gurdwara Ber Sahib in Sultanpur Lodhi dedicated to 550th Gurpurb.
Originally scheduled on July 25, the SGPC has postponed the event for a week, apparently, due to adverse weather conditions. Earlier, the SGPC had extended a formal invitation each to Pakistan PM, Pakistan Punjab Governor and CM, Evacuee board chairperson and PSGPC president, besides a special invitation to CM Capt Amarinder Singh to welcome the nagar kirtan at Attari.
Though no SGPC official was ready to talk about withdrawal of Pakistan PM’s name from the list, insiders say the invitations had been sent this evening to all Pakistan dignitaries, except Imran Khan. Earlier, SGPC chief Gobind Singh Longowal said the nagar kirtan would be taken out on August 1 due to possibility of rain on earlier date.
Coordination panel
The SGPC on Thursday initiated the move to constitute a coordination committee in collaboration with the state government. SGPC chief Gobind Singh Longowal has asked the CM to nominate two members. “As per Akal Takht, we have decided to form a panel in which two members each from the SGPC and the government will decide upon the programmes to be held at Sultanpur Lodhi,” said Longowal.
DSGMC schedule
New Delhi: The DSGMC has advanced its schedule of organising nagar kirtan from Delhi to Nankana Sahib to mark the 550th Gurpurb. As per the new schedule, the nagar kirtan will commence on October 13 instead of October 28, the earlier decided date. DSGMC president Manjinder Sirsa said the move aimed at avoiding confrontation with Paramjit Sarna, who is firm on carrying out a nagar kirtan of his own.
