The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) on Monday said a calendar of events is being prepared to conduct functions across several locations in the world to mark the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev.
A delegation led by party president Sukhbir Singh Badal met Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
A statement of the party said, “The prime minister agreed to facilitate all these functions through Indian Missions abroad and also assured to provide all support to the organisers.”
The venues are being identified which shall be released to the public soon, the party said.
The delegation also had SGPC president Govind Singh Longowal in a joint delegation of SAD, SGPC, DSGMC and representative of Board Takht Sri Patna Sahib.
The delegation apprised Narendra Modi about the programmes of 550th birth anniversary year of Guru Nanak Dev and have invited him to the main function organised by SGPC to be held on November 12 at Sultanpur Lodhi.
Prime Minister Modi has agreed to attend the main celebration function to be held at Sultanpur Lodhi.
The prime minister also instructed Ministry of External Affairs to facilitate the Nagar Kirtan that is commencing from Sri Nankana Sahib, the birth place of Sri Guru Nanak Dev on July 25.
Union Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal, Rajya Sabha MP Balwinder Singh Bhunder, Avtar Singh and Manjinder Singh Sirsa were part of the delegation.
