The issue of amending the Punjab Private Health Sciences Education Institutions (Regulation of Admission, Fixation of Fee and Making Reservation) Act has been put on the back burner with the Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh, today constituting a three-member committee to study the problems and fee structure of private medical institutions and ways to rationalise the same.
The committee consists of Health Minister Brahm Mohindra, Finance Minister Manpreet Badal and Higher and Technical Education Minister Charanjit Singh Channi.

Channi said private universities should implement student and job reservation policies. The Chief Minister asked the committee to take note of the suggestion and share its views on the matter.
The Cabinet approved the creation of 994 posts of teaching and paramedical staff and multi task workers for the upcoming Government Medical College at Mohali.
