For BJP, Pak sole issue this time: Sisodia

Jalandhar

Aam Aadmi Party leader and Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia said here today that Pakistan was the only issue the BJP had during these elections.

He was in Jalandhar to canvass for AAP candidate Justice Zora Singh. He claimed that the Congress had failed to keep up its promises, hence people were placing hopes on the AAP this time. “False nationalism” is how he describes BJP’s and PM Narendra Modi’s campaign.

Sisodia said, “The BJP has only one issue —Pakistan. For them neither employment nor trade is an issue.”

Claiming that the Congress had lost people’s trust, Sisodia said, “The people had placed their trust in the Congress in the previous Lok Sabha elections. It promised respite in the job sector and from farm distress. But CM Capt Amarinder Singh failed to live up to their expectations.”

About the Congress — a party with which AAP had unsuccessfully tried negotiating an alliance these elections — he said, “The country is in much danger from Modi and BJP president Amit Shah. Both of them pose the gravest threat to the country right now. That is why we wanted an alliance with the Congress on various seats. But it did not work.”

However, point out to the dwindling crowds at AAP’s rallies, and he remains defiant, saying they were doing better that it was in 2014. He said, “In 2014 also everyone laughed at us. They called us four-month-old party and made fun of us. The party’s graph has gone up now. The party will claim 13 seats in the state.” However, a considerably low turnout was witnessed at Sisodia’s roadshow in the city today.

Capt, Sukhbir in league with each other: Kejriwal

Mansa: AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal has accused Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh and SAD chief Sukhbir Badal of fighting the elections like A and B teams to help each other’s nominees. During a roadshow in support of party candidate Prof Baljinder Kaur on Wednesday, he said, “Capt Amarinder and Sukhbir are in a pact to ensure the victory of each other’s wives from Patiala and Bathinda, respectively. They are playing safe to grab power. I appeal to you to bid good bye to both of them.” tns
